Beats for love donated 300 thousand CZK to mobile hospice ‘Strom života‘

Organizers of the dance festival handed 300 thousand CZK over to the mobile hospice Strom Života (Tree of Life), which takes care of children and adult patients in advanced and final stages of uncurable illnesses. Visitors contributed in the public collection at the festival with the amount of 149 thousand CZK, organizers doubled the amount to 300 thousand CZK.

Charitable activities have been an integral part of the biggest dance festival in the heart of Europe. This year the festival decided to help a mobile hospice Strom Života whose goal is to enable seriously ill patients to spent the rest of their lives in the family circle while maintaining their dignity and access to the highest quality service. The hospice works for four years during which it helped to more than 700 patients in Moravian-Silesian, Olomouc and Zlín region. “You can see by this number that the hospice service is really important. Domestic specialized palliative care is still very dependent on grants and gifts. We saw it as a huge opportunity to help this project which we believe to and which we value,” says Kamil Rudolf, CEO of the Beats for Love festival.

The raised funds will be used for purchase of medical supplies and for quality improvement during regular service which works non-stop 24 hours 7 days in a week directly in patients’ homes. “Most people would like to live the rest of their life just like they did before and not in an impersonal hospital environment. They want to drink their tea, see flowers which they grew, eat from their plates, enjoy the rest of their waning strength by talking to those whom they love the most. We try to make this possible and thanks to the subjects like Beats for Love, we are successful. A huge thank you and admiration goes to the organizers of the festival and also to all of the visitors who by buying the bracelet at this amazing event supported our activities,” says Markéta Blinková from the mobile hospice Strom Života.

Strom Života also helps those close to the patients who take care of them by providing professional social counseling. For the smallest ones there’s a project called Stromeček (Little Tree) which provides group therapy to the children of survivors to deal better with the loss of their parents.

The Beats for Love festival also helped the patients at the department of cardiology, Ostrava City Hospital or seriously ill girl named Veronika from Frýdek-Místek in the past. The organizers also organized Christmas Days in the Children’s Homes and DJs workshops for students or deaf people. They also donated blood, cleaned gardens up in the Homes for the elderly people and gave lectures about traveling to pensioners.
